I think that this drawing really shows my growth as a drawer. I remember when we first started the project and I was really nervous because I didn't think I could actually draw something like that and I was really nervous for the project. I could've chosen a easier picture to draw and I was tempted to, but I really wanted to draw something with my mom on our canoe trip. However as I'm looking at it I've realized that it actually is good. One thing that I've really grown to like about drawing is the way that you can look at a picture and re-create it, I used this idea a lot in this project, I took this picture of my mom when we were canoeing and I added details and I took out things that didn't really need to be in the picture, when you are taking a photograph you can't eliminate parts of that picture, but with drawing you can always add in and take out parts.
Looking over these pictures I think it's interesting how many times I adjusted and changed the way the picture was placed on the page. Looking at my final I sort of wish I had taken out that canoe in the back, but at the same time if I didn't have the canoe in the picture then it would look like it was very simple with the canoe just in the middle of the page. I had a lot of trouble with the trees, it was hard for me to draw them very detailed but also in the back. I decided that drawing is supposed to be realistic and you can't really see much of the trees except for the idea of them. I feel like this project challenged me the most because it was something I never felt like I could do, and I did it. I was really nervous taking this class because I'm not the best drawer, it was hard looking around at everyone's projects that were so good and I felt like mine weren't at all, and being able to work really hard on this project and have it look pretty good was a great feeling.
